visual identity and exhibition design
The show is presenting the first housing estates designed in the spirit of the international style, built since 1930’s by Polish architects: Helena & Szymon Syrkus, Barbara & Stanisław Brukalski. The history of housing estate projects is interwoven with the memories of its residents and the “cool” modernism turns out to be a vibrant place concentrating life of the local community.
Pablo Picasso drew mermaid on one of the walls of a newly build Warsaw Housing Association (WSM) flat during his Intellectuals’ Congress visit in 1948. We used the drawing as a basic visual element appearing on all materials accompanying the exhibition.
In 2019, the exhibition was awarded the 1st prize for the best architectural event as part of the Architectural Award of the President of the Capital City of Warsaw.
