The publication accompanies a research project realized at the Jagiellonian University. A team of twelve researchers from various scientific backgrounds, supported by artists dealing with matters of the past, undertook a task of understanding the function of places which once witnessed violence, so potentially they could become places of memory, but they didn’t gain that status. This kind of not commemorated places play an important role in processes of shaping identities and the relation towards the past and only seemingly are deleted from social and cultural record.
